Collaborative home improvement

The Sint Joseph flat is a residential complex in the Eindhoven district of Tongelre, with a culturally mixed tenant base of an average older age. The flat is owned by the Eindhoven-based Woonbedrijf. The flat has an assertive residents' committee, which indicated that there was a need for closer contact between the tenants and that the interior of the flat was in need of a makeover. Woonbedrijf asked Rake Lijnen to fulfill their wishes with the residents.

In a series of work sessions, we created ideas about how the flat could get more allure, through a new name, clear signs, an attractive layout of the portals and adjustments that encourage mutual contact. For example, there will be cabinets that offer “joint exhibitions” and the walls will be provided with a number of life motto.

Parts of the project have now been completed, the rest are expected to be completed in 2020.

Marijke Mulder, Residents Committee St. Joseph Residence:

"With the Woonbedrijf, Marnix was asked to brainstorm what the possibilities could be for both of our reception halls. He provided the residents with ideas and sketches that could fit in well with both the Woonbedrijf and the residents. Thanks to Marnix the reception halls have become very light and inviting. "
