Autism spectrum disorder innovation sessions

The Boerderij in Reek is a residential group for adults within the Autism Spectrum Disorders care program, part of the care organization GGZ Oost Brabant. GGZ Oost Brabant.

The organization approached me to come up with ideas that could contribute to the well-being of its clients. After an exploratory visit, I suggested applying the co-creation method, which had previously proven itself in similar projects involving the elderly and children.

In the spring and summer of 2017, I had a series of sessions with clients and staff, exploring together where their challenges, needs and opportunities lay. Once we had found a good starting point, we designed a solution together. I then developed this solution into clear visualization, provided it with short comments and bundled the results.

The presentation to the living group gave a clear picture of what was going on in the living group, but also of the extent to which people were able to meet their needs. The Ideas from the book have led to an improvement in living conditions in the living group.

The co-creation method that I applied originated in 2014, during projects where I had “creative conversations” in various situations with groups and individuals. Since then I have further developed the method and offer it as a service to governments, (healthcare) institutions and commercial organizations.
