How to turn a village visit into an experience

The Brabant-based village of Heeze is known for its culinary, cultural and green wealth. However, in 2014 the shopping heart of Heeze was faced with vacancy and overloading from passing traffic, which endangered the quality of life of Heeze as a hospitable village. To draw up a strategic vision for this problem, the municipality organized a large meeting with stakeholders in order to arrive at widely supported solutions.

Coöperatie Streekontwikkeling Boven-Dommel facilitated the session and asked Rake Lijnen to visualize the results. We chose to organize the meeting as a work session, in which the participants themselves contributed, visualized and evaluated ideas on the basis of themes. After the session I elaborated a selection of these in clear visualisations, with a brief description and location map.

The visual report appealed to the imagination and was a rewarding tool for improving the quality of life in the village.

Has van Helvoort, then advisor at Coöperatie Streekontwikkeling Boven-Dommel:

"We approached Marnix to visualize a shared vision of the developments in the core shopping area of Heeze. During the sessions with entrepreneurs, real estate owners, residents and the municipality, Marnix participated in the creatie sessions and designed the various scenarios with / for us. We found the collaboration with Marnix very pleasant and above all smooth. His sketches / images appealed to everyone and were of excellent quality. Marnix's input (visualisations) was of absolute added value for the total project. "
