Design of a recurring drinking cup

Packaging company Bordex Packaging is one of the frontrunners in its field in combining sustainability and healthy entrepreneurship. In this process, the company uses its know-how, new technology and a network of like-minded partners to help its customers with innovative packaging solutions. I have been supporting the company for more than 10 years in making the portfolio more sustainable and making packaging smarter as a product group.

Bordex asked Rake Lijnen to design a new, high-quality cup series from PET.Together we explored the festival industry and what stood out was the limited adhesion users have with the cups, leading to the “plastic carpets” that festivals are known for. I chose to create a design that encourages more sustainable behavior due to its design and appearance, and with Bordex we developed the PET360® ecosystem, which guarantees 100% recycling in applications.

The success of the PET360 products has brought about a mindset change in the packaging industry and has been rewarded with a German Design Award.
