Fifty fiery wishes

Oude Gracht West is a proud neighborhood in the Eindhoven district of Woensel. For several weeks now, there's a new neighborhood association, who wanted to introduce itself in a playful way. The association did this by making an inventory of what is going on in the neighborhood. Residents' wishes were collected door-to-door by the Hartendames and they could be handed in at the local pastry stand.

The campaign was a great success and provided a great insight into the needs of the ward. Many of the wishes arose from a need for social contact, but there were also practical suggestions for improving road safety, for example. The neighborhood association has the ambition to realize some of the wishes in collaboration with volunteers.

The neighborhood association asked Rake Lijnen to represent the outcome of the inventory in a practical way. I chose to make as much use as possible of the resources available in the neighborhood and designed a reusable plastic display collar that is clamped around the lampposts on the Muzenlaan.

50 Wishes illuminate the Muzenlaan in this way and thus contribute to the goal of the neighborhood association: unite, embellish and activate.

This project was supported by Buurtvereniging Oude Gracht West, Buurtcultuurfonds Woonbedrijf, De Beletteraar, RVL Concepts, residents of the Eckartdal neighborhood, Hartendames, Oliebollenhuis Cassandraplein, CKE Eindhoven and Rake Lijnen.
