Urban vision forming approached as a design project

Business park De Run in Veldhoven is rapidly developing into one of the technological hotspots in the region, together with organizations such as ASML and the Maxima Medical Center.

The Municipality of Veldhoven was under pressure to direct this growth and involved interested parties from the area in the development of a development agenda for the area. To this end, she organized a series of work sessions in 2017, which were facilitated by BMC.

The Municipality approached Rake Lijnen for a visual summary of the meetings. In consultation we decided to approach the issue“what does a robust development vision for the Run look like”not in discussion form, but as a design challenge. This helped us achieve constructive contributions and consensus more quickly during the politically charged sessions. I summarized the results visually and bundled them into a report.

In a very short time, this method resulted in a design for a spatial vision in which shared responsibility, innovative entrepreneurship, and attention to nature, high-tech and mobility come together organically.
