Redesign of a classic balance bike

Chillafish is a developer and supplier of innovative and sustainable toys. The company asked Rake Lijnen to design a balance bike for the youngest segment, based on the classic four-wheel model, but with great attention to aesthetics.

By choosing proven technology, space was created to pay a lot of attention to design and a number of functional and safety details, including a point-of-sale clip with which the bikes can be presented to a pole in-store.

The swift cocreation between Rake Lijnen and Chillafish quickly resulted in a competitive product with an iconic design.

Seppe De Roeck, owner at The CHILLAFISH Company:

“In recent years I had the pleasure to work on several projects with Marnix within the “wheeled toys” category. Marnix is detailed, professional in his deliverables and has a creative mindset. A great teamplayer who can also steer projects from start to finish. A healthy design-inspired mix not often found in one person. He understands customer demands and while thinking out of the box, doesn’t stray too much from the intended project direction. Marnix understands that design has to be “marketable” too and has a great passion for functional design, without losing focus on details and shapes.”
