The International Bike Group (IBG), creator of Brinckers, approached Rake Lijnen to take care of the art direction of the Brinckers e-bike portfolio.
IBG wanted Brinckers to be a brand with a typically Dutch appearance. In order to achieve that, Rake Lijnen investigated typically Dutch qualities that would match with the brand: a proven past in cycling, typography, graphic design, poetry, a sense of humour and a bias towards iconic design. The outcome of the search formed the basis of Brinckers “Dutch DNA”: high-quality bikes for intensive commuter use, with a distinctive design.
Rake Lijnen applies this DNA while designing new bicycles, by bringing the new bike structures, colour, decals and patterns together into 1 three-dimensional model in 3D CAD. By approaching bicycle graphics three-dimensionally and not “flat”, all the elements within the model blend together creating visible synergy and a typical Brinckers form language.
This form language has contributed to Brinckers’ commercial success, making it one of the best sold e-bike brands on the market.
